As one of the largest hospital networks in Indianapolis, Community Health Network (CHN) significantly invests in benefits to attract and retain the best employees. However, communications about benefits was jargon-heavy, complex and uninspiring—making it difficult to absorb, let alone value.
We developed a new approach to communicating about benefits—one that leverages employee data to create segmented and personalized benefits materials. Segmented pieces target employees by health plan, retirement plan contribution level, age and other factors. Personalized materials provide information specific to each individual employee’s benefit elections. With both segmented and personalized communications, messages are adapted so they are relevant and pertinent to each employee receiving it.
To improve employees’ understanding and use of their benefits, we leverage communication materials throughout the year, particularly with specific initiatives like open enrollment, the 401(k) retirement plan, new employee orientation and CHN’s wellness program.
Community Health Network is a nonprofit health system with 15,000 employees and more than 200 sites of care and affiliates throughout central Indiana. CHN has the second largest market share in the nine-county central Indiana area.
